SUBARU PERFORMANCE

ABOUT US

At Revolutions Performance you will find some of the best Subaru minds in the nation. We have built and tuned multiple nationally competitive race cars. Additionally, we build Colorado’s fastest street Subarus. All of the fastest Subarus in the state are customers of Revolutions Performance. We specialize in turning your Subaru into something to truly be proud of.

There is no project too big or too small. We offer everything to make your Subaru faster- from custom fabrication to complete engine building and dyno tuning. We do free initial consultations on upgrading your vehicle as well, just give us a call at 719-635-6200 or stop by our 4-bay shop at 312 W Fillmore St in Colorado Springs.

Other shops talk the talk but when you compare our motorsports record vs theirs there is no comparison. From simple bolt-on performance upgrades to full-blown racing engines we have the knowledge and resources to reach any goal and any budget. We are direct dealers with companies like Cobb, Mishimoto, Grimmspeed, APS, APR, Garrett, FP Turbochargers and more.

Recently Nathan Conley raced in the Global Rallycross event at PPIR in Fountain with a Subaru we built for him. At that event we placed 5th overall. ESPN liked our performance so much they invited to compete in X Games 17 in Los Angeles. This is not the first time we have had cars tuned by us get invited to X Games, in fact Nathan and his wife were invited back in 2008 but were unable to compete due to injury. Check out the featured cars section for more information on Nate’s car that we call “Bullet.”

Why Revolutions Performance?

We have literally tuned well over 500 Subarus since we opened our doors back in 2004. For Subarus making less than 500whp we sell and tune the Cobb Accessport.

So why should you use the Accessport vs other open source tuning options such as Romraider and ECUFLASH? The reason is simple. You get a better tune, in less time, with a company that will stand behind their product. Let’s say your buddy has a laptop and buys a Tactrix cable- he’s now a tuner, right? He has the software to make changes to the factory ecu and the hardware to do it but probably does not have the extensive knowledge required to properly tune your vehicle.

Let’s say you let your buddy (or another tuner for that matter) flash your car. In the middle of the flash the computer bluescreens and you can no longer start your car. Who do you go to? Tactrix no longer offers their ecu recovery service. The problem with open source software is that it is occasionally buggy and developed by people in their spare time. If something breaks it’s on you to fix it.

The Accessport, on the other hand, is backed by Cobb Tuning- a household name in the Subaru tuning community. If it causes an issue with your ecu Cobb is going to take care of you. The final reason is the quality of the tune.

Using the Accessport we can make changes to the mapping of the ecu in REAL TIME. This means we can change parameters with the engine running. Instead of having to datalog and guess and check we can make changes on the fly and get the job done in a much faster, safer, more repeatable manner. In addition to Cobb Accessports we also have extensive experience tuning other standalone systems such as AEM, Autronic, Motec, Link, Vipec and Haltech in Subaru applications. We have chosen a Dyno Dynamics AWD 450 chassis dyno for all of your tuning needs. This machine is one of the most accurate and advanced dynamometers on the market.

Dyno Dynamics VS other dynos

Our Dyno Dynamics Dyno is affectionately known as “the heartbreaker” By this we mean that your horsepower number will probably read lower than other dynos. That being said, our number has proven to be accurate based on vehicle weight and quarter mile track speeds. Other local dynos may give you a high number to make you feel good, but wouldn’t you rather have a real number? Wouldn’t you feel better to beat their “700hp” car with your “500hp” car? In the end though a dyno is simply a tuning tool. If you do all of your testing at our facility you will be able to see the gains from each part you add. It’s impossible to compare numbers between dynos because of so many variables. Think of a dyno like a torque wrench- you want to be able to measure the amount of torque applied- consistently and accurately.

Advantages Over Common Inertia Dynos

An inertia dyno cannot apply load unless the vehicle is accelerating. This makes it impossible to test a car on a level road at steady speed on flat roads or up hill, or slowing down due to hills etc. In addition, an inertia dyno makes it impossible to properly tune a vehicle at anything other than maximum acceleration! A Dyno Dynamics dynamometer can easily test a car at any speed and at any load simulating any condition of speed, incline or decline! For example, the dyno can hold a vehicle at say 50% throttle and 3,500 RPM while optimizing the air to fuel ratio or timing. This is how you achieve a properly tuned vehicle for driveability as well as maximum performance at full throttle!

Got BIG Power?

Revolutions Performance has equipped this dyno with TWIN Eddy Current Retarders on the rear bed of the dyno. That means we can support vehicles with up to 2,800 HP to the rear wheels! So, if other shops have turned you away because of limitations on how much horsepower they can handle, come on over to Revolutions Performance.

Using this extremely controlled environment, the following information can be collected from each dyno session:

  • Horsepower
  • Torque
  • Tractive Effort Intake Air Temperature
  • Manifold Pressure/Boost
  • Air to Fuel Ratio (AFR)

Tuning checklist

Before bringing your vehicle in for a dyno tune we need to make sure your vehicle is ready to tune. Click the link below for our tuning checklist. You MUST have this tuning checklist completed prior to your dyno tuning appointment. Failure to complete this checklist will result in forfeiture of your dyno tuning deposit. If you are not able to complete this checklist yourself you may have us do it for you for a nominal fee.
